FAQ
What is a Hydrosol?
Hand-harvested organically certified plant materials from Little Mountain Farm are combined with rainwater in traditional Portuguese Alembic pots and heated creating vapour which is then cooled to transform the aromatic vapour into liquid. Through distillation the volatile organic compounds from the plant material are liberated during the steaming process, then cooled through the condenser to become a mix of essential oils suspended in plant cellular water. No essential oils are removed from Little Mountain Farm Hydrosols throughout the distillation process.
What is certified organic in Australia?
In Australia certified organic is assessed against the 'National Standard for Organic and Bio-Dynamic Produce' (the National Standard being Australia’s technical export standard for organic and bio-dynamic goods) undertaken by five Australian Government approved certifying bodies. Little Mountain Farm produce is currently certified by NCO.
